Lake County Botanical Garden (Initiative)
Nature Connects Us All
Nature Connects Us All
This conceptual rendering is intended to illustrate the overall vision and potential character of the Lake County Botanical Garden and Environmental Education Initiative. It is not a finalized design.
The project is in its early planning phase, and future development will be shaped through community input, environmental review, Tribal consultation, and collaboration with regional partners.
The final design will evolve to reflect the ecological needs of the site, the priorities of Lake County communities, and the shared vision of those who participate in its creation.
Lake County Botanical Garden is envisioned on the unceded ancestral lands of the Indigenous peoples of the Clear Lake region. We recognize that these lands have long been stewarded through Indigenous knowledge and cultural relationships with plants and place. Acknowledging this history is only a beginning. We approach this work with respect and with intention: to listen, learn, and nurture relationships that honor the enduring presence and knowledge of the region’s Indigenous communities.

Lake County is one of the most naturally beautiful regions in Northern California, with diverse landscapes that include oak woodlands, volcanic slopes, wetlands, and seasonal wildflower displays centered around Clear Lake.
Despite this remarkable setting, the county currently lacks a public botanical garden where residents and visitors can experience plants in curated, educational, and accessible environments.
A botanical garden would provide a welcoming green space for the community, offering opportunities for outdoor recreation, learning, and connection with nature. It would also support community wellness, environmental education, and workforce development while contributing to the local economy through tourism and regional visibility.
The Lake County Botanical Garden represents an opportunity to create a lasting community resource that reflects the beauty, ecology, and cultural significance of this region.

The Lake County Botanical Garden Initiative is in its earliest stage, building the foundation for a future public garden in Lake County.
We are currently raising support for community outreach, planning, and early development efforts that will help bring this vision to life!

Our Approach:
Phase 1 — Planting the Seed
Community outreach, early programs, awareness
Phase 2 — Site & Design
Land selection and planning
Phase 3 — Build & Grow
Garden development and public opening
The Lake County Botanical Garden is a proposed public garden designed to showcase the beauty and cultural significance of plants while creating a welcoming green space for residents and visitors of Lake County, California.
The Lake County Botanical Garden will showcase plants, nature, and culture while creating spaces where people reconnect with the environment and each other.
We are currently in a planning phase and do not have gardens yet.
